The Ruins of Ale Shindere is a short dungeon crawler with character progression in the form of WoW-like talent systems and gearing options.

This game has been a passion project of mine over the last year and a bit while I learn computer programming. While it is basic, I do believe it can be a fun little way to waste 20-30 minutes, or even more if you decide to experiment with different talent builds or try out the hard difficulty mode.

The game features several character races that have different perks to playing, like more attack power from the agility stat or the ability to negate more damage than normal. On top of this there are 9 talent trees that can be mixed and matched to your liking, synergizing with each other and your character's race. There is also a gear system to further flesh out your character's class.

Please know that dying in the game is common. If you run into a boss that is giving you trouble, going back and farming enemies for experience, levels, and gear is a good idea.

The game currently is no longer being worked on, however I'm developing a sequel in my spare time that has a new party system and new talents, as well as several other gameplay tweaks. So stay tuned for developments from that project.

Unfortunately I am aware of a few bugs still riddling the program. The bugs I'm aware of are...

  1. When picking up a new weapon while your inventory is already full, it's sometimes possible to duplicate that weapon. There's no benefit to doing this however, as you can't sell items or dual wield 2 separate weapons. So the only negative repercussion of this is maybe a bit of confusion the first time it happens.
  2. In the inventory screen, some inputs can crash the game. This is caused by the program converting your input into a number, if you enter any letters or blank spaces in these certain parts, it'll cause the crash. Because of how I've written the inventory code and my own inexperience, this is quite a headache to fix, so it's staying as is for now because in most cases you'll need to go out of your way to trigger it. I'd recommend not trying to trigger this crash as the game has no way of saving data and your run will be lost.
  3. Sometimes encounters will start but no enemies spawn, meaning you instantly win the fight. Again, not very harmful, so it's staying as is for now.
  4. Beyond this I believe all other bugs have been squashed. However if you ever do run into anything else, please let me know below.
